Today, Dilettante Collection welcomes Laura from Walking in Memphis in High Heels!  In addition to having a genuine smile and girl-next-door charm, Laura also has a flair for mixing girly, classic, and colorful pieces.  She shows her readers that it's possible to be both budget-friendly and fashionable, even when dressing for the corporate office.

Laura is wearing the Seaside Blouse paired with skinny jeans; she adds a splash of color with her bright patterned clutch and bold pumps.  Laura is expecting a little girl in a few months (Congrats!) and this top works perfectly during pregnancy...and afterwards as well!
Dilettante Collection:  Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Laura:  My name is Laura Boswell, and I am a 31 year old (that doesn’t seem right!) Assistant Credit Manager and style blogger.  I have been married to my husband, Shane, for 7.5 years, and after 7 years of trying, we finally have a little girl named Leighton due in 3 months.  Can you tell I’m excited?

Dilettante Collection:  Why did you start a blog?
Laura:  I began blogging about 1.5 years ago after my husband suggested I start blogging since I had recently started reading so many fashion blogs.  I was on Christmas break from school and had the free time, so I thought, why not?

Dilettante Collection:  When you aren't blogging, what are you doing...and how to you balance everything?
Laura:  I just finished my MBA a couple of months ago, so I am enjoying the free time!  I work full time as an assistant credit manager, and I blog at night and on the weekends.  When I’m not doing either of those, I am usually spending time with Shane or my 2 little yorkies, Spike and Lola.  Shopping, running, working out and anything outdoors are some of my favorite hobbies, so you will rarely find me sitting still.  It is very, very hard to balance it all since work and blogging is about 70 hours per week, but you always find a way to do what you love.

Dilettante Collection:  What's your favorite vacation destination?
Laura:  I absolutely love the Virgin Islands!  Shane and I went there for our honeymoon, and then we went back about 5 years ago.  We are dying to go again!  Hawaii is on my wish list also.

Dilettante Collection:  Do you have any hidden talents?
Laura:  I wish, lol!  Hmmm, I can say my ABC’s backwards.  Does that count?  Haha! I started gymnastics and cheerleading when I was about 5, so I can still do back tucks and back handsprings...aside from right now while I’m pregnant.  = )

Dilettante Collection:  Describe your ideal way to spend a Saturday.
Laura:  Doing something outdoors!  Swimming, hiking or riding bikes with Shane.

Dilettante Collection:  How would you describe your style?
Laura:  I would describe my style as girly, classic and trendy.  I don’t like to fall into one category too much; I prefer to mix it up.

Dilettante Collection:  You are expecting a baby girl this year...how do you anticipate your pregnancy affecting your style?
Laura:  It has just recently started to affect my style more than I ever thought it would.  I have been layering more, adding more belts, and living in dresses and sandals more than I ever have.  I am usually more of a high-waisted skirt with heels kind of girl, so there has been some transition, but it has been worth every minute.  It will be tough to get back in shape during the holidays (I’m due the end of October), but I’m looking forward to it.  I see lots of running with a stroller in my future.  = )

Dilettante Collection:  Do you have any style tips for soon-to-be-moms?
Laura: Rock your normal clothing for as long as you can! It will help you to feel like your normal self, confident, and it is almost much cheaper!  I felt like I immediately had to start dressing differently and couldn’t still wear my favorite high-waisted skirts, and I regret that.  Try to wear what you like and feel comfortable in for as long as you can, then add in maternity pieces when you have to.  I am 6 months pregnant and have just now started purchasing about 2 or 3 maternity pieces.  I am now at the point where it is time to do some maternity shopping.  I also relied a lot on my normal clothing, but sized up a size or two.

Dilettante Collection:  Do you have a favorite look or go-to piece?
Laura:  My go-to piece is pretty much always a full skirt.  The shape is so flattering, and it accentuates your legs and calves.  Add a nice pump to really slim your legs.  So classy and trendy all at the same time.
Dilettante Collection:  Do you have a go-to beauty product?
Laura:  My YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick.  I have them in about 10 different colors.  And Lancome’s Oscillation mascara.  I cannot live without these 2 beauty products!

Dilettante Collection:  What's the key to pulling together a great look?
Laura:  The best ways to pull a look together is by adding a great layer such as a blazer, jacket or belting your top or dress.  Adding this really completes your look.  I would also add a great clutch, statement necklace or pump.  Another way to pull your look together is by using the same color or print on a couple different pieces.  For instance, you could complete your casual look of boyfriend jeans and a floral blazer by pairing it with a blue clutch and pumps.
