More from Christina after the break!
Christina: I was born and raised in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and I attended the University of Florida for undergrad, and The University of Mississippi for Law School. The Quarter Life Closet serves as my personal style portfolio that I consider to be part how-to and hopefully a source of inspiration to others.
Dilettante Collection: Why did you start blogging?
Christina: I have always loved fashion. This love started with my Grandmother with whom I was very close to growing up. My Grandmother had an extra closet built onto her house at one point... so she was pretty serious about clothing. I remember playing in her things for hours, putting on vintage furs and clip on earrings. My grandmother also passed down a love of shopping not just to me, but to all the women in my family...nothing centers me more than a healthy stroll through the Nordstrom shoe department! Due to this love of style that I had developed at an early age, in college while pursing a degree in Advertising Journalism at the University of Florida, I considered pursuing a career in fashion PR or journalism. However, I also wanted an advanced degree and one that would provide me with a new way of thinking and greater career marketability throughout my life. With a natural inclination towards communication, I gravitated towards a legal education.
In my second year of law school at the University of Mississippi, I went through a major quarter-life crisis. I began to wonder whether or not I should drop everything, move to Manhattan, and pursue my dream of working in the fashion industry. Thus from my quarter-life crisis, The Quarter Life Closet was born. My blog has served as my creative outlet, my personal style portfolio, and a mental break from my legal studies. I decided that I could literally have it all… I could be a fashion-blogging attorney, so I decided to do just that. My little blog has given me great joy and the will to complete law school. I have recently received my degree, and I start working as a lawyer in October after taking the Florida Bar in July. Blogging has taught me to never give up; every passion is worth pursuing all it takes is hard work and a little creativity.
Christina: When I am not blogging, I am eating all the fresh Florida seafood and fruit I can get my hands on, going to the beach with friends and family, online shopping, and mostly studying for the Bar. I have also recently tried paddle boarding...which I really loved.
Dilettante Collection: What's your favorite vacation destination?
Christina: Italy. I spent six weeks in Florence with five of my girlfriends right after college. It combines three of my favorite things: great food, rich history, and awesome fashion.
Dilettante Collection: Do you have any hidden talents?
Christina: I am pretty good a accent imitations. My friend Anastasia is Russian, and she says my Russian- American accent is pretty spot on. My friends will often request different accents from me; my British accent may be my favorite.
Dilettante Collection: Can you describe your ideal way to spend a Saturday?
Christina: My favorite way to spend a Saturday would be with my best friends reading magazines and having cocktails by a pool.
Christina: My aesthetic is constantly evolving… I am equally as inspired by minimalism as I am by over-the-top glamour. However, adding a unique twist to classic and feminine silhouettes best describes my look.
Dilettante Collection: Do you have a favorite look or go-to piece? A go-to beauty product?
Christina: My go-to piece would probably be my leather jacket. It goes with everything and it is such an important staple that is worth the splurge. My go-to beauty product is Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer. I have been using it for years, and it seriously erases any imperfections; it also stays all day.
Dilettante Collection: Do you have any fashion inspirations?
Christina: Yes! Olivia Palermo and Blair Eadie of the blog Atlantic-Pacific, and J.Crew's Jenna Lyons.
Christina: The key to a great look is always having the right proportions for your body and the right fit. The rest is about being creative and thinking outside the box. Great fit is the only fashion rule I believe in.
Dilettante Collection: What's a favorite fashion trend at the moment?
Christina: High-waisted silhouettes are my favorite trend at the moment. I think they are so flattering and feminine. I also love the dramatic gladiator sandals that are out for the summer. I think they are so fun and fashion forward.
